Reflection

A.    Describe your interest in learning English, esp. writing.
First of all, I always have a huge interest in language. But I think English is the language that I want to be good in the most. And since I love writing, and have been writing in English since high school, I was really glad when I found out that I got to study writing in one of the class.
I always write my diary in English, most of them I didn’t publish. But some of them I posted on my Wattpad account, though. It was nice to get feedbacks from some of my friends. I found that it helps me to think in English. And as time goes by, I am getting really comfortable to write in English because of the expressions that are different from what we use in Indonesian.

B.     Give your opinion on doing Project Based Learning and record it in your personal Blog as Portfolio.
Doing projects was really fun and somehow it didn’t put as much pressure as what ‘normal’ assignments usually do. I felt that the projects were organized. I even did most of the projects far before the deadline which is quite fascinating (for a hardcore dead-liner like me).
Moreover, we get to record the projects on our personal blog that we can check anytime in the future. Everyone in the class can freely evaluate each other’s works as well, and we can edit it anytime we want. I personally think it was an effective way to reflect on my skill because I can compare mine to the others’ work.

C.    Mention and describe the advantages you get from doing the Project Based Learning, give examples from 3 projects that you love the most.
As mentioned before, I can evaluate my classmates’ work as well as mine. We can easily access the personal blogs and give each other feedbacks. All those assessment can be done easily even without a meeting. I also can reflect on my other classmates’ skill.
Secondly, I don’t have to print out my works means no wasted papers. Since I am environmentally conscious, I think it is such a big deal. Knowing that probably the papers will only stacked after the lecturer done with the assessment. Even I don’t get the direct feedbacks that can help a lot on improving my English.
Last but not least, the works to be done are most likely organized, with a clear deadline. The final works are recorded on our blogs as well, so I can check it anytime I want to see how much I’ve improved. The projects that I love the most are writing informal text, writing a daily journal and the vlog project.

D.    Mention and describe the challenges of doing the Project Based Learning, give examples from 3 projects that you love the most.
The challenge of doing the daily journal project is that I have to set a high standard of the project knowing that it can be a guide and a way to motivate others. And that it will be posted on the internet publicly meaning everyone can read it. I really don’t want to have any regrets and do as good as I can.
For the ‘writing informal text’ project, the challenge is to have the courage to start a conversation, also choosing an account that the conversation will most likely be fun and works well. This was actually my first time ever to chat with a stranger. Since I am really awkward in real life, I was kind of hesitating in the beginning, but the conversation turns out happening really well.
Despite the excitement of doing the vlog project, actually the realization needs such a lot of hard work. The planning; writing storyboard and script, filming, and editing really needs a dedication. It took some time to get the project done. I think I could’ve did better.

E.     Give your feedback on how the instructor (Ms.Devi) facilitates the process of Project Based Learning.
Ms. Devi gave a really clear instruction in each of the projects so that I could do all of the projects well and also the students can communicate anytime through whatsapp, that was really helping.
Maybe next time you can give the students the freedom to decide what topic to do in their vlog projects. Because honestly there’s a lot of fun activities to film, as long as we include writing in the vlog, it can still be an effective way in learning.

F.     Write down you overall impression on doing Project Based Learning and whether you will continue recording your own Portfolio in the future.
Overall, the projects were fun and exciting. Project base learning was such a fresh method among the other basic classes by the lecturers. I can improve my writing skills while having fun doing the projects.

I will probably still record my works but not in this blog cause not much people will access it. But I will be more productive and maybe write my own fiction and use the other social platforms.
